So, I investigated the followings- Checked whether some other FTP server was running without my conscent! The result came negative. Then executed shell “/usr/sbin/proftpd” Something fired up this time! and it was like [root@ns2 ~]# /usr/sbin/proftpd /etc/host.conf: line 2: bad command `host.mydomain.com’ – warning: unable to determine IP address of ‘host.mydomain.com’ – error: no valid servers configured – Fatal: error processing configuration file ‘/etc/proftpd.conf’ The answer which resolved me by adding a single stated line in /etc/hosts file- host.mydomain.com Life’s beautiful- eh!
